Research

The love of discovery, innovation and creation is one of the main characteristics and attractions of university life. Research is the driving force behind the development of knowledge at the University, the aims of which include both its creation and its dissemination.

+260 research projects
+14.30 million granted for research

With their researchers, CEU Universities are involved in 263 research projects of various kinds. These projects include self-funded initiatives, collaborations with companies and competitive tenders, with a total amount of 14.33 million Euro approved. Of the total funding received, 70% came from national and regional competitive tenders, 18% from collaborations with companies and 9% from international competitive funds.

In this context, through its Universities and Research Institutes, CEU aims to promote and support research activity in the university and business fields, as well as disseminate the results achieved in the social sphere. This objective is also part of the institution's commitment to research and internationalisation.

Some of the activities carried out through the Vice-Rector's Offices for Research include: coordination of doctoral programmes, announcements of pre- and post-doctoral grants, aid for research mobility, management of the assessment of six-year periods by the CNEAI (National Research Activity Assessment Committee) and internal aid for research projects, among others.

The CEU International Doctoral School (CEINDO) was created to promote the training of people with research and innovation skills, through doctoral studies that meet the needs of specialisation, updating and diversification of training, research and the transfer of knowledge to society. The ultimate aim is to form a large group of researchers specialised in the School's different programmes in order to establish an international network of researchers.

To this end, the CEINDO is responsible for the planning, organisation and management of the official doctoral programmes of the CEU Universities involved, and of the entities that may join it in the future, and for ensuring the suitability and quality of the doctoral activities in order to achieve sufficient critical mass and make it a core aspect of the research strategy of the Universities.

CEU Universities have their own Inter-University Institutes and Centres for research in humanities, social sciences and health sciences.

The institutes are multidisciplinary and highly specialised and are supported by the activity of our research professors and established research groups, with the aim of enhancing the quality of research. Their cross-disciplinary approach to social problems enables them to provide multidisciplinary scientific solutions, focusing on people.
